February is Self Love Month } Pink Blush Boudoir Photography

Let’s make February self love month!

With February revolving around Valentine’s Day, I think it’s fitting to make it a self love month.  Valentine’s Day is meant to show the people you love some love, so why not show yourself a little love too.  

I’ve been having a hard time coming up with things to write about on our blog. As most of you know (or can tell from my other blog posts), I am not a writer, however, I do my best, and I think this topic will be great for discussions and for furthering our brand and what we truly stand by here at Pink Blush. 

We are obviously boudoir photographers, however, we are in the business of helping people see themselves in a new light.  As much as boudoir photography is about getting ‘sexy’ photos done of yourself, it is a lot about the experience you will receive when you walk through our doors.  I think this is the part that Sarina and myself pride ourselves in most.  

We want women to feel safe and comfortable when they arrive, during their shoot, and after they leave.  We try our best to make sure our studio feels this way for everyone who comes here. We not only want you to feel safe and comfortable, but we want to help you on your path to appreciating yourself and if you will, showing yourself the love and praise you deserve. 

In dedicating this month to Self Love, Sarina and myself will be doing some self love work as well. Feel free to join in and do some of the things we plan on doing, we will share our progress and give you updates every Saturday this month on how it’s going. 

Over the last two years, I myself have been doing a lot of work and trying to show myself some love for change.  For me it was trying to have a more positive outlook on life and myself. Taking care of myself more by working out and changing my diet.  It has been a long road and journey for myself, but in taking so much pride in taking care of myself, it was easier to start to love myself more.  Putting in that extra effort has helped me appreciate myself more, which has led to me opening up and growing as a person.

Your self love journey is important, and will come to you when you need it most.  Of course it will be different for everyone, and you may have already started doing the work, but if you haven’t already it may be time for you to start or to think about starting. 

This week will be step one, and that I think is acceptance that you need to start accepting yourself and treating yourself better.  Hold yourself accountable. That’s where I want everyone to start. I am by no means a professional or leader in self love, I myself could still use some refreshing in this category, so I will be starting from the beginning again too.  Take this time to figure yourself out too, think about what you might want for yourself and for your future.

Cute Boudoir Prop Ideas } Miss S

Flashback to this babe’s second shoot with us! I love when women want to come back and try a boudoir shoot for a second time! Miss S had some great outfit ideas plus some really cute and unique prop ideas as well. Each outfit added a different element to her shoot. Loving this red lingerie set she brought, the white pom poms paired with the white stockings is the perfect Christmas look that she was going for. Add in a sparkly necklace and red lip, the perfect options to compliment this look. For a bridal look, this white body suit with her wedding shoes and pearls is another match made in heaven. His t-shirt with a cute pair of black panties, is the outfit he may love most as whenever he wears that shirt again he will think of you. Lastly, I am in LOVE with props that she brought for her shoot too. Lover of cookies and champagne she wanted to incorporate that into the shoot, what a cute prop idea though!

Miss I } Curvy Women in Boudoir Photography

I cannot believe how many women message us and ask if we photograph “Plus Size Women” or “Curvy Women.” Of course we do! We love women of all shaped and sizes and Miss I is a prime example of a fabulously curvy woman. Take a peak at her images below, she has some great outfit inspiration and some great pose ideas for curvy women.

Bodysuits or Teddies are the perfect outfit for accentuating a woman’s shape. These outfits are super flattering as they are still tight to the body to show off your curves, but give you a little more coverage.

High waisted panties or garter belts are perfect for accentuating her shape as well. How cool is this black harness piece that she got? I love all the straps and the buckles, it perfectly compliments her shape. You could even try something like this out with a bra and panty set if you weren’t comfortable going naked. I am also loving the red floral cut out bra that she brought it, very unique and goes nicely with her lacey brown high waisted panties.

Boudoir Photographer Edmonton } Miss S

Sometimes simplicity is best with boudoir! If you are not the type of girl who is big into accessories, then don’t stress and just keep it simple for your boudoir shoot. Add in a simple strand of pearls and a couple pairs of shoes might be the only accessories you need for your shoot, and for Miss S, it complimented her look and photos perfectly.

“I have always wanted to do a boudoir shoot for myself and now not only was I able to do it for myself but also for someone that means the world to me.  I have to say it took a lot of courage to book my session initially but once I got there and met Calie I felt completely at ease. What an amazing talent this girl has to be able to capture the true beauty in every woman. It was truly an amazing experience. Edgy & Pretty Boudoir Photography } Miss A

Flashback to Miss A’s shoot in November! I am in love with the variety of outfits she brought, her look compliments all the different vibes we were going for; Edgy & Pretty.

Here are a few words from her about her experience with us:

A few short months ago I found myself newly single, and in need of a confidence boost.  I had never had a professional photography session before but randomly found the Pink Blush Boudior website and decided to enquire about a session with the dynamic duo that is Sarina and Calie.  On the day of my session I arrived with low expectations (I have never been particularly photogenic) and found myself slightly (probably more than slightly) nervous.  All of this was entirely unnecessary all due to Sarina and Calie.  While sipping a glass of wine I was able to relax while Sarina worked her magic on my hair and makeup.  Afterwards and feeling as if I at least looked the part I made my way over to Calie where the rest of my nerves quickly dissipated.  Calie will talk you through every pose, figure out all of the best angles, make sure your outfit is perfect and your hair remains tousled.  I left my session tired but happy, and with a serious confidence boost.  The only thing better than how I felt following my session was getting to see my finished pictures... which were: amazing.  I highly encourage any and every woman to have a boudior shoot with these ladies!  Your confidence (as well as anyone in particular you might show the pictures to) will seriously thank you.

Mature Women in Boudoir } Pink Blush Photography

I would say that 90% of the women who come to us are doing a boudoir photo shoot first and foremost for themselves! They may have a significant other but the reason they are trying out a boudoir photo session is to do something nice for themselves. We love that boudoir has become this special thing that women do for themselves and not just for a boyfriend/girlfriend, wife/husband, or fiancé.

Boudoir photography is all about your attitude and the mindset you bring to your shoot. It’s definitely a bit nerve wrecking trying something like this out for the first time, and rightfully so, it’s not every day you get naked or wear lingerie in front of a stranger! Tattoos & Boudoir } Miss A

When you have lots of tattoos selecting outfits the compliment them is super key. This babe has lots of fabulous and colourful tattoos so opting for black outfits really worked for her shoot, PLUS she has amazing pink hair so letting those stand for themselves with something more neutral worked great! Her tattoos and hair colour were a match made in heaven for our studio space including a new pin couch. Check out some of Miss A’s images below!
