Why do women dread turning 40? Let me share my story. Oh, the thrill of celebrating my 41st birthday! As I reflect on the wild ride of my 20s, I'm amazed by my incredible transformation. I conquered real challenges and emerged stronger than ever before. There were moments when I teetered on the edge of survival, but here I stand, a warrior of my own destiny.

In my younger years, I sought solace in the allure of alcohol, believing it necessary for having fun, fitting in, and making friends. But as I grew, I shed that illusions. Those shallow connections revealed their true colors, and I realized I actually liked my life more without it. I have spent the past 13 years in sobriety and I am so grateful everyday that I get to experience this life with all my senses present. Something I wish I had understood at a much younger age.

Entering my 30s marked a powerful shift. I realized that my past mistakes and struggles were not to be blamed on conditions like my upbringing. No, I had to take ownership of my life and my choices, having lived independently for over a decade I had no place blaming things on people like my parent. Now, we all know that a gorgeous glow can do wonders for our confidence and make us feel like the queens we truly are. But let's be real, ladies, finding the perfect tan can be a serious struggle. Spray tans, for instance, can be a complete hit or miss. I've seen my fair share of mishaps, with shades that were more Oompa Loompa than golden goddess. And don't get me started on the horror of discovering your tan has transferred onto your favorite white silk blouse or that brand new fluffy rug in your living room. Talk about a boudoir faux pas!

On the other hand, basking in the glorious rays of the sun might seem like a tempting option. Living in Alberta for over 15 years, I have come to cherish the breathtaking beauty of our majestic mountains. However, I realized that I rarely took the time to fully immerse myself in their embrace. Whenever I drove through the mountains it was always for another destination, usually to see family in Kelowna or Vancouver. Every time I would question myself, why don’t I ever make time to come here to shoot? This summer I am determined to change that. I will be booking dates to take myself and clients out to the mountains while we have this beautiful weather. In June, I was fortunate enough to secure a day off and have a good friend willing to join me on a spontaneous last-minute trip. This is what we discovered.

Years ago when we first started Pink Blush Boudoir all we thought we could offer clients were amazing sets, expert posing, and accessories! Times have changed and over the last couple of years we have expanded our “Client Closet” to not only include shoes, jewelry, stockings, and gloves, but to include all kinds of lingerie in a variety of sizes.  As our lingerie habit grows, Sarina and I keep adding more and more goodies for our clients to enjoy!

If you find yourself struggling to find anything to wear for your boudoir photo shoot then stress no more we have got you covered! With sizes ranging from XS to 5XL, there is truly something for everyone who comes to our studio. 

If you are interested in using some of the items from our client closet, I highly recommend booking a consultation before your session, so you can come see some of the outfit options we have available in person for your specific size.  A lot of women like to wing it and try outfits on the day of their shoot, but you are welcome to come in and try any of the outfits you would like to at your consultation as well.  

Sarina and I are experts when it comes to choosing outfits or helping you make adjustments so the outfit fits you as best as possible.  Trying on lingerie can be frustrating, not knowing where certain straps go, or having to do any clips or garter hooks up alone is hard, but that is also what we are here for.  We find that when you try outfits on with us, we can pop in and help make little tweaks and adjustments to the outfits. Whether it be moving straps to sit differently on your hips, helping you hook up clips, or maybe even cinching things in differently with a safety pin so the outfits fits you perfectly! Whatever it may be, we have your back!

This is an experience you are doing with your love after all. The one person you should feel the most safe and comfortable with. We are just here to help guide you through different poses, keep you in good lighting, and make sure everyone is looking their best.  All you have to do is hang on to each other, look deeply into each other's eyes, and share a little bit of intimate interaction with each other, while your photographer just happens to be there.

As far as you not “looking the part” well what is love supposed to look like? Last time I checked we don’t just love each other just because of how we look. What is the real objective here? To showcase the years we spend together, building memories, healing ourselves, growing so tightly intertwined with one another that someday it will be hard to know where one ends and the other begins. We want to help you celebrate your connection, those little intimate moments that only the two of you know, so you can see what you share between the two of you. Some of my favourite past couples clients are the one who have been together the longest, simply because they know what they have overcome together, and what the world might think will never matter because they know what they are together and it is such a beautiful thing. But of course working with new couples can be a lot of fun too. I will certainly teach you both a lot about each other.

During a Couples Boudoir Experience you will have the chance to explore your relationship in a way you haven’t before. The sessions can be fun and flirty, or a little more on the naughty side. They can be done with a little more clothing on for those of you who want to keep it a little more modest. Maybe a suit for him and a cocktail dress for her. You can pick out pieces that are more scandalous, maybe some classic lingerie or bondage style pieces for her and some sexy man panties for him. You can also be fully nude, however, please note, we do aim to keep fully nude images more suggestive through creative posing. I find that each couple has a unique vision for the types of images they would like to capture, and the mood they want to express, we are here to help you put all the pieces together from outfits to posing to make your vision come to life.

 Our Couple featured in today's blog, wanted a little bit of variety, some more modest outfits with more teasing poses. Something a little more casual and playful, and of course we did some slightly risqué shots that unfortunately are too steamy for the internet. This brings up another good point. Privacy! Most couples ask if their images will be shared and the answer is no, unless you grant us permission. Your privacy is of high importance to us. 

Working with Miss R and Mr D was a splendid experience. These two have a beautiful connection, and were great at communicating and interacting throughout the session. Of course at the beginning they both were feeling a little nervous, but by the end they were both talking about how excited they were for the next one. Mr D was so overjoyed with the images that he convinced Miss R to add on the unlimited package so they could have all of their images. Nothing makes me happier than a man who wants all the pictures of his wife. An experience like this should be light, easy, respectful for all involved, and most of all a stunning way to capture your love.

Shower Boudoir Photos - Edmonton Boudoir Photographer

There are some new and exciting things happening here at Pink Blush Boudoir this month! We have always had our wet room as one of our favourite room options to offer our boudoir clients, with the option of selecting either our shower set or tub set, but now we have a portable shower that can be used anywhere in our boudoir studio here in Edmonton! 

What better way to celebrate our new shower set than to do a model call! At the beginning of the month with the release of our latest newsletter we sent out a last minute model call to see if we could get some women to come try out our new set.

Do you like the idea of doing some ‘wet’ look photos but don’t actually want to hop in the shower? Our new Shower Panel is perfect that way, as we can truly use any backdrop and there is so much more you can do pose wise with it too.

There were so many applicants, Sarina and I were so shocked!

Nine lucky ladies made it into our studio at the beginning of March. It was so much fun to get to play around and familiarize ourselves with all the options and ideas of what we can do.  

Truly the options are endless now with our shower set. You have the option to make it clean and simple, by choosing one of our five backdrop options:

White Background | Brick Wall | Black Wall | Gold Wall | Pink Wall

If you like the idea of giving it a more tropical feel, adding in some plants definitely changes up the vibe.  

We can even include furniture, mirrors in the background now for some added dimension.  

There’s something about the ‘wet skin’ look that I am just loving in photos these days.  The added hazy vibes you get as well from the panel are so cool and different, especially for a boudoir shoot.  

The Wet Skin Look

When it comes to boudoir outfits and what you should wear, our client closet has lots of cute pieces to try.  As you can see below, bra & panty sets or even other kinds of lingerie like body suits work well no matter what. All the lingerie pieces below are from our client closet. We have lingerie in sizes Small to 5XL with 10-30 different pieces in each size, so there is tons of variety for you to choose from no matter what size or shape you are.

Another outfit option we love is a bathing suit! Do you have a cute and skimpy bathing suit you don’t get to wear to often. Bathing suits and our shower panel are a match made in heaven!

You could even opt to try something a little more naked with an implied nudity, either using your hands to cover or letting the haze or water droplets on the shower panel discreetly cover you.  Or even more fun, you could rock it completely naked! 

Coloured lights are a must when it comes to the shower panel. It really helps illuminate the water and droplets while adding a little more fun to your boudoir photos. What’s even more fun is we have a fog machine, which adds even more haze to the room, it honestly pairs so nicely with the whole shower vibe.

Edmonton Boudoir Photographer - The Rain Room at Pink Blush

Last fall I was inspired by some of the other photographers I follow to try something completely different in our studio. A Rain Room Set. Basically a black bay with a tarp bottom and an adjustable shower head in my garage. This simple set up is creating some pretty hot photos, and really fun experiences for our clients. One of our return clients said it was the funnest shoot she has ever done.

I wish I could offer this set year round, but because it is in the garage, weather needs to be considered, and of course the garage is my husbands space too so I can’t be taking it over all the time. We will be setting up in April in May for only a few days at a time. Spot will be limited so if this set looks like something you want to try be sure to get on our waiting list now.

Once I started to play in the set I discovered how fun it was to add coloured lights. Yes, Im a big dork so I had to make purple rain and squeal like a little girl while I did it. We can add pretty much any colour you want so you can customize the set for specific theme or outfit. Above Miss J is wearing a black sheer bodysuit that we pulled from our clients closet. We have these pieces in small, large and Xlarge for you to borrow.

Miss C below, has done probably close to 10 shoots with me over the years and I feel like this might be one of my favourites sets ever with her. The blue light with the flashy eye makeup and her stunning Honey Burdette set is just magic. We also played around with a white dress shirt, because we all know what happens to white when it gets wet. It goes see through and extra sexy.

This next set is screaming Flashdance vibes. That was always one of my favourite movies when I was young so of course I was silly excited to recreate some of these flashy wet poses with Miss K. We used a soft pink light and this rhinestone fishnet bodysuit, with her shaved blonde hair, its a stunning mix of edged elegance. Just a dream..

Miss wanted to play with a few different looks in her Rain Room Boudoir session. We played with different light combinations and brightly coloured outfits. In just a 45 min session we did 3 outfits, and got so many cool shots. I love being able to offer sets like these to my OnlyFans ladies because we can product so much product in a short time frame.

Lastly we have our very own Calie playing out my Vampire visions. A little fake blood and some fangs are all you need to turn this set into a gore girls dream. I added in a red moon to some of the shots for some extra spook. I have always thought Calie was such a sweet girl, but after how good she did in this Vampire set she’s got me questioning everything. Secret bad girl maybe??? What do you think?
