 The Pink Blush Preparation Guide

Congratulations on booking your boudoir shoot! This is your moment to shine, celebrate your beauty, and feel empowered. To make the experience as seamless and enjoyable as possible, here’s a guide to help you prepare.

1. Skin Prep

  • Hydrate: Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your shoot to keep your skin glowing.

  • Exfoliate & Moisturize: Gently exfoliate your body a few days before the shoot and apply a rich moisturizer daily.

  • Face Prep: Be sure to exfoliate your face well the days before your shoot, and hydrate after. Dead skin can cause makeup application to look scaly and uneven. We want you to be smooth and glowing. If you do not own an exfoliant, add brown sugar and very fine coffee grounds to your face wash.

  • Avoid Tanning: Skip self-tanners or tanning beds to avoid streaks or redness. Do your best to avoid Tanlines from outdoor tanning. Natural skin tones photograph beautifully.

  • Waxing/Shaving: If you wax or shave, do so a day or two before the session to minimize irritation. If you are prone to razer rashs try shaving with the direction of your hair growth to avoid irritation. Please only wax if you know our skin responds well to waxing.

2. Hair

• Wash your hair the day before or the morning of your shoot. Oily hair tends to weigh hair down making it more difficult to get that glorious boudoir hair volume. If you use any volumizing products for extra volume you are welcome to apply it before you blow dry. Please use hair oils/serums sparingly/

• If you’re planning a salon visit, schedule it at least a week before the shoot to allow for adjustments.

• Try to avoid wearing your hair in a tight bun or pony the day of your shoot. Lose hair is best to maintain volume.

  • If you have clip-in hair extensions feel free to bring them. I am happy to install clip-in extensions, just make sure they are clean and not tangled before your appointment.

3. Nails

• Clean, polished nails make a difference in photos. Neutral tones, soft pinks, or a classic red are great choices. Keep in mind the outfits and sets we are doing when selecting your color.

  • Press-on nails work well for shoots if you want a long look without the commitment. I recommend bringing extra glue and nails incase you lose one. Be sure to lightly scuff your nail bed before applying.

• Don’t forget your toes—especially if you’re planning to go barefoot! Please do not put green on your toes, you will regret that one day.

4. Makeup

• I will provide all the essentials for hair and makeup, but if you have allergies and need to use your products please bring what you have and I will make magic happen with what you have,

• When deciding on your makeup look, I will consider your outfits and themes for the shoot, your features, what you typically wear for hair and makeup, and what type of look you want for the shoot. Finding the right look for you is a collaborative effort to make sure we get it just right.

  • Lashes extension ladies: A fresh set is always lovely for your shoot, but please do not overfill. Overfilled lashes can make eyes appear smaller and can hide eye makeup in photos. Strip lashes and individual lashes are available in the studio if you are due for a fill, I’m happy to touch you up if needed.

5. Wardrobe

• If you have done a consultation with me it is likely you have your outfits set, but if you are thinking of bringing your own consider bodysuits, bra and panty sets, and other lingerie styles. I don’t generally recommend babydolls if they cover too much, and are not see-through. The goal is to show off your curves, and wear pieces that flaunt your shape not hide it. You only need 2-3 outfits, quality over quantity. Pick the pieces that fit and feel amazing.

• Accessorize: Jewelry, garters, stockings, and heels can elevate your look. Of course, I have all of these items in the studio but if you have specific pieces you want to showcase in your shoot feel free to bring them

6. Mindset

• Rest Well: A good night’s sleep will help you feel fresh and energized.

• Self Love Homework: Try mirror affirmations, or journalling the weeks before your shoot. Let go of limited beliefs, switch your inner dialog to positive thoughts only, and if negative thoughts are coming up, ask yourself if those words are even yours or if they belong to someone else. Often the negative things we think about ourselves come from external sources that are not serving us.

• Pamper Yourself: Take time for self-care the day before—bubble baths, candles, and calming music work wonders. My personal favorite is a loving self-massage with oil the night before or the morning of. While you rub yourself down tell each body part how much you love and appreciate it. Don’t forget to tell yourself how much you deserve to feel good in your skin.

7. Posing Prep

Posing is often the most concerning part of the boudoir shoot process for my clients. Throughout your shoot, I will give you all the guidance you need and you are not expected to know a thing. However, if you would like to do a few things before your shoot to help you prepare these are my recommendations.

  • Yoga classes - Yoga can help you get in touch with your body and how it moves. Boudoir posing will put your body in positions that are not normal for most of us. Things like back arching, sitting on our knees, and balancing with our weight shifted onto one leg. Some of my favorite poses to help you prepare are cat-cow, cobra, sitting on your knees with toes together and knees wide, and tree pose for balance.

  • Floor work or heel classes at Aradia Fitness. Classes like these can help us get in touch with our sexy side. You will learn how to move your hips and flip your hair in a safe welcoming environment filled with other women who are all looking to embrace their sexy side.

  • Sexy dancing in the comfort of your own living room or bedroom. This is something I do myself on a regular just because it feels good. Dim the lights, put on something that makes you feel sexy (this could be the baggiest sweatpants or the sexiest lingerie you own), and play some slow sultry music. Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and start to let your body move. There are no rules, it doesn’t have to look good, I just want you to let go and explore how your body can move. It gets extra spicey if you move your hands over your body. Start with touching your hair, then your face, lips, down your neck, and beyond. Play with arching your back, bending over, shaking your boobies and flipping your hair. All those movements that society tells us are too provocative for the public, do all of them.

8. What to Pack

• Your outfits and accessories. If this is for your wedding, bring your engagement ring.

• I supply beverages in the studio, but if you want something special you are welcome to bring your own.

• Your favorite music playlist to set the mood. I do have a super sexy playlist but sometimes we just need our own jam.

• Your self-confidence, your radiance, your silly side, and your sexy side. Leave the baggage with the “flaws and self-doubt” at home.

9. Day of the Shoot

• Eat a light meal to keep your energy up. Shoot day is long, you will have adrenaline running, and your head upside down off the bed while doing deep breathing exercises. No food = Dizzy

  • Avoid tight clothing on the day of your shoot to prevent marks on your skin. I do have robes in the studio if needed.

• Nervous is normal. Every woman comes into her first shoot nervous and unsure. But did you ever notice how nervous and excited feel like the same thing? Go with excitement! You have already taken a big step towards expanding your growth as a woman by booking this experience. Soon, you are going to see angles of yourself you have never seen before, and I promise you will like some of them more than you ever thought possible.

This is your time to celebrate YOU. Let go of any nerves and embrace the empowering journey. You’ll look and feel incredible—trust the process, and let your inner goddess shine.

Let’s create some magic!
